SINK TO THE SEA is an ambient, experimental, post-rock trio comprised of Marc Bobro (Crying 4 Kafka), James Van Arsdale (The Coral Sea, Heavy Cosmic Kinetic), and Noah Whatoff. We are based in Southern California but do not like the sun. This is our first album.

Our music is adventurous. It is sonic exploration. Compositions are combined with extensive improvisations that allow for interplay. We create moody, sensuous soundscapes that are soundtracks to small moments in time. They are meditations. They are inward and outward-facing. Lyrical without words.

The music is inspired by the natural world. It borrows from visual art forms such as collage and kinetic abstract sculpture in the way sounds are built and used. Horror movie soundtracks, Frippertronics, free jazz, electronica, and psychedelia all combine to form evocative and thoughtful pieces that delve into varied subjects such as dreams, war, enlightenment, darkness, discovery, communication, and our six senses.

It is our hope that these works have feeling and ask questions—their layers revealing more and more over time.
